The Camberville GreenMap began in August 2003 as GreenMap MIT by MIT Urban Studies major Jerrad Pierce. The purpose of the project was to plot the location of recycling bins on campus as an effort to dispell the oft cited excuse for not recycling that, "There aren't any recycling bins" as myth. The project has since grown considerably in extent and scope to include all of Cambridge and a wide variety of features. We recently published our first major edition, and are planning for future editions. Goals include: a web map service, more thorough coverage of Somerville, and a larger second edition of the free paper version of the map. Volunteers and donations are always welcome!
